Executive meeting in New Delhi

We had an excellent Executive meeting in New Delhi, India on September 4, 2006.
Twenty five Executives, Chairmen of committees and counselors were present. The meeting was organized in a splendid way by Prof. Agarwal and his team. We stayed in the leading Congress Hotel in Delhi and the Social program was excellent including a visit to Agra and the World famous Taj Mahal.

Apart from a loaded meeting program, we had a lot of opportunities to discuss the matters on a personnel level and renew the friendships. Based on this and the efforts of our board members, IFOS can do all the work, with a small budget. The work of the office has been approved, as well as the reports of the President with the detailed overview of the results of the World Congress in Rome. The Vice President Dr. Paulo Pontes gave a detailed report on the preparation of the World Congress 2009 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It was agreed that the Advisory Committee of IFOS, consisting of the Chairmen of the subspecialty Ad Hoc Committees will meet as soon as possible with the Local Scientific Committee in order to come up with an interesting high quality program for the World Congress in 2009. The Ad Hoc committees are already preparing their proposals.

The chairman of the Education committee reported on the preparation of a paper concerning the minimum requirements for an ENT training program, worldwide.
The aim is to finish a proposal before the General Assembly of the World Congress in Sao Paulo.

The progress in our worldwide action “Hearing for All” was discussed. Our public Health responsibility according our mission statement with our worldwide action is moving forward. We need more participation of our Societies for this action, to prevent the most occurring handicap in the World. More detailed information on this action and developments can be found in the chapter “Hearing for All”

The Financial, Regional and Social matters were discussed. The Executive Board has approved the activities to develop an electronic Newsletter for all our members. We hope that the Societies will take care of their home page on this website. If you have news about activities of your society, the website of IFOS is available to publish your reports.
You will find more news abut this in due time on the website in the chapter “Member matters”

The office has send the application form for the 20th World Congress in 2013 to the member societies. The bid books should be send to the office before January 15, 2007. Already several societies have shown their interest. The election will be held during the General Assembly of the 19th World Congress in Sao Paulo in 2009.
