L’année 2017 a été celle du congrès mondial, IFOS Paris 2017.
A notre congrès annuel, s’est substituée, pour un an, la plus importante réunion scientifique de notre spécialité. On peut qualifier ce congrès de formidable succès en communiquant quelques chiffres : 8417 inscrits, 3781 résumés soumis, 570 sessions, 2000 orateurs, 133 partenaires. Un programme social qui a transformé ce succès en sublimant l’accueil « à la française », la science, la connaissance et l’innovation étaient au coeur de l’histoire de notre nation.
Grace à vous, à la vitalité de notre discipline, à la capacité de la Société Française à se mobiliser pour organiser et accueillir le monde de l’ORL, le contrat a été rempli et largement dépassé. Un tel niveau n’avait jamais été atteint, tant scientifique que participatif.
Il nous faut poursuivre et profiter de l’expérience acquise. Avec le bureau, ses présidents, Frederic Chabolle et Noel Garabedian, nous vous remercions pour l’accueil que vous réservez aux congressistes, et l’aide indispensable que vous nous procurez chaque année.
En 2018, nous attendons plus de 2500 congressistes, français et étrangers, la francophonie retrouve la porte Maillot, des sessions scientifiques, en langue française, selon le schéma des années précédentes. Pour autant les évolutions se poursuivront, pour assurer un accueil tenant compte de vos attentes et de celles des ORL.
La SFORL vous assure de sa reconnaissance pour le soutien que vous apportez au congrès annuel. Vous contribuez à en faire une vitrine de haut niveau d’innovation et de prise en charge des patients. Every year the Bulgarian Rhinologic Society provides the highest level of dedicated rhinologic subspecialty training programmes, courses and education of the residents. In Europe we will have to collaborate more intensively with the other rhinologic societies. The Bulgarian Rhinologic Society has a wonderful collaboration with the Italian rhinologists. Every year we organize a Bulgarian-Italian Rhinology Friendship Meetings including exchange programmes for residents and specialists, clinical and research experience, rhinology research laboratory experiments etc.

This meeting is the 8th international symposium in a row of successful meetings, since it was first launched in Dresden in 1996 based on the idea of bringing together clinicians and basic scientists. The triennial meetings aim at promoting exchange between experts in clinical otology, middle ear scientists and engineers. The meetings focus on the middle ear biomechanics (measurements and modeling), basic and clinical research on its physiology and pathology, active and passive middle ear implants, middle ear surgeries, bone conduction theory and applications. Also great interest is paid in areas as inner mechanics, evolution of the auditory system, imaging technologies, etc.
